Zurich Airport Brasil will start operating Natal Airport on 19/02

01 Feb 2024

Zurich Airport Brasil will hold on Monday (19/02), at 14pm, the official ceremony for the transfer of operational responsibility for Natal International Airport. With the presence of the new concessionaire's board of directors and municipal, state and federal authorities, the event for guests will take place at the airport's headquarters.

In the assisted operation phase since January 17, 2024, the Swiss group Zurich Airport won the public tender to operate Natal Airport (RN) in May 2023. The new concessionaire owns 100% of the airport - which currently has capacity for around of 6,5 million passengers per year - and will operate it until 2054. The agreement guaranteed the payment of R$320 million to the former concessionaire.

Some improvements to the terminal are already planned for 2024, such as new features in the commercial area and parking, improvements to the air conditioning systems and actions to improve the passenger experience, which reflect the Swiss group's style of operating airports. In addition, the company will analyze potential for logistical and real estate development and seek to improve the connectivity of the domestic and international network. Currently, the two best airports in the country in the evaluation of passengers according to the official sector survey, Florianópolis and Vitória, are managed by Zurich Airport Brasil. The initiatives will be presented at the ceremony on February 19th.

Aluízio Alves International Airport, in São Gonçalo do Amarante, is the main gateway to the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, and complements Zurich Airport's portfolio in Brazil – made up of the concession of 100% of the airports of Florianópolis, Vitória and Macaé and participation at Confins - Belo Horizonte airport.
